Abstract:

This article explores the role of digital reading platforms, artificial

intelligence (AI)-driven applications, gamification, and adaptive learning systems in
enhancing reading instruction. Additionally, it discusses the impact of these
technologies on student performance, highlighting both the advantages and challenges
of integrating them into educational settings.

В этой статье исследуется роль цифровых платформ чтения,

приложений на основе искусственного интеллекта (ИИ), геймификации и систем
адаптивного обучения в улучшении обучения чтению. Кроме того, в нем
обсуждается влияние этих технологий на успеваемость учащихся,
подчеркиваются как преимущества, так и проблемы их интеграции в
образовательную среду.

: Ushbu maqola raqamli oʻqish platformalari, sunʼiy intellektga

(AI) asoslangan ilovalar, oʻyinlashtirish va moslashtirilgan oʻquv tizimlarining
oʻqishga oʻrgatishni yaxshilashdagi rolini oʻrganadi. Bundan tashqari, u ushbu
texnologiyalarning o'quvchilarning muvaffaqiyatiga ta'sirini muhokama qiladi,
ularning ta'lim muhitiga integratsiyalashuvining afzalliklari va muammolarini
ta'kidlaydi.

Introduction:

Reading is one of the fundamental skills necessary for language

acquisition and academic success. In English as a Second Language (ESL) and English
as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, developing strong reading skills is often a
challenge due to differences in phonetics, vocabulary, and sentence structures between
English and students’ native languages. Traditional reading instruction primarily relied
on printed textbooks, phonics exercises, and guided reading sessions. However, with
the advancement of digital technology, reading instruction has undergone a

transformative shift.

Modern technological tools not only provide learners with diverse

reading materials but also enhance engagement through interactive features such as
text-to-speech, instant translations, and AI-powered feedback. These technologies cater
to different learning styles, enabling students to develop comprehension skills at their
own pace. This article examines the major technological advancements that have
influenced the teaching of reading and evaluates their effectiveness in improving
literacy skills among English learners.

Modern Technologies in Teaching Reading

Digital Reading Platforms: The emergence of digital reading platforms has made

access to a wide range of texts more convenient than ever before. Platforms such as
Oxford Reading Club, Raz-Kids, and Epic! offer structured reading programs tailored
to different age groups and proficiency levels. These platforms typically include
features such as:

Built-in dictionaries allow students to look up unfamiliar words instantly.

Audio support to help learners with pronunciation and fluency.

Comprehension quizzes to assess understanding after each reading

session.

For example, Raz-Kids provides leveled books that adjust to a student's reading

ability, offering personalized learning experiences. The platform also tracks progress
and provides teachers with reports on students' reading habits and areas that need
improvement. This ensures that learners engage with materials suited to their individual
skill levels, improving their comprehension and fluency.

comprehension.

AI tools make reading more interactive and adaptive, addressing the specific

challenges students face. For example, if a student struggles with understanding

improvement.

Impact of Technology on Reading Comprehension

Numerous studies indicate that technology-enhanced reading instruction leads to

methods.

Modern technology has significantly enhanced the way reading is taught in

English classrooms. Digital platforms, AI tools, gamification, and adaptive learning
systems have made reading instruction more engaging, personalized, and effective.
However, challenges such as access inequality and teacher preparedness must be
addressed to maximize these benefits. By integrating technology strategically,
educators can create a more inclusive and effective learning experience for students
worldwide.
