American postmodern literature and its development

Dildora Sadikova

This article examines postmodernism as a cultural and intellectual trend, emphasizing its critique of conventional grand narratives and its resistance to categorization. Micro-narratives, fragmentation, and experimentation in philosophy, art, and literature are characteristics of postmodernism. The essay considers several important aspects of postmodernism, such as its emphasis on relativity in social, political, and cultural contexts, its rejection of absolute truths, and its use of intertextuality. It discusses how postmodernism has influenced critical ideas such as reader-response theory, deconstruction, and the fusion of high and low culture. The article demonstrates the various uses and importance of postmodernism in current discourse by examining the works of prominent intellectuals such as Jean-François Lyotard and Linda Hutcheon.
