RELEVANCE
We know that nowadays the new methods of teaching English are
developing year by year. And of course these new methods help to learners to
learn English better. Of course, nowadays we use new pedagogical technologies
in our classes but role of games are also important in teaching English. And my
article is devoted for those learners who like play games. And we all know that
mostly of these learners consist of young learners.
PURPOSE
Young learners love to play games and they participate in a game with more
enthusiasm and willingness than in any classroom tasks. There are teachers who
fail to realize the importance of games, considering them not a wealth of various
techniques and an opportunity for real communication but an uncontrolled and
noisy waste of time. However, children in general learn better when they are
active. If games are properly designed, they may become an excellent and
essential part of a children
’
s learning programme.
RESEARCH MATERIALS
With what can games be useful for learners? So, games are activities with
rules, a goal to achieve and an element of fun. They seem to be challenging and
interesting enough to keep the young learners occupied and eager to complete the
task. The majority of activities which are found in resourceful materials for
teachers are based on the belief that the games children enjoy and are interested
in playing outside the classroom can be adapted and exploited for use in English
language classes. Furthermore, as they use English for real purposes, they make
the children play and learn at the same time. Moreover, games help to create a
context in which children
’
s attention is focused on the completion of a task
without realizing that language items are being practiced. As a result, language
learning takes place in a context that children can directly relate to. However it is
necessary to keep in mind the interests and needs of the learners. Games can

provide a valuable learning experience in which the children practice and revise
language only if and they are carefully chosen, according to students
’
styles of
learning.
RESEARCH RESULTS
Before choosing an activity for use with a class, it is necessary to consider
some criteria which should be careful in making decisions whether to use the
particular activity, to reject it to apart it. First of all, it is essential to provide a clear
and meaningful purpose for using language which capitalizes on young learners
’
desire to communicate, for example, activities which involve a game, puzzling
something out or getting missing information from another person. All these
make sense and are meaningful to young leaners.
I want to suggest you some interesting and useful games which you can use
for your lessons.
Lots of games are for increasing and developing vocabulary of the learners.
Many people build their vocabulary through a blend of methods
–
by taking
English classes, reading books, watching movies in English and studying English
with English language software. Playing word and vocabulary games is a valuable
part of learning English.
“Crocodile”
Level: Any Level. Explain learners that they are going to play a game
"pantomime". (one student takes a card with a word and begins to show it with
mimes, without any sound) divide the group into two teams, each team prepares
cards with the words and each team chooses one by one opposite team
’
s card and
begins to show. The members of the team should guess this word in English.
Learners should guess the word within a minute.
“Describing appearance and characteristics of people”
Level: Easy to Medium. Each student then given one sheet of pa-per. One
student sits in the front of the room. He/she describes a person and the rest of the
class draws the person being described.
It is more interesting if the person being described is known by eve-ryone.
Once the student finished describing that person then he/she reveal who it is and
each student shows his/her drawing. The laughter from this is hilarious as the
impressions tend to make the character in question look funny.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I want to say that using games during our classes is one of the
best way of teaching English. Also, it encourages that students who even do not
want to learn language and helps to manage the left time by using even internet
games. There are many games for English classes, including the web games. If we
use these games during our lessons the result will be better than before. And of
course, games help to conduct our lessons with an interactive and interesting way.
