described in a work, images and their decisions, which is important for
understanding the content of the work. The creation of artistic images and the
formation of imagery reflect not only the creative process of the writer or artist,
but also the society, culture and historical conditions in which he or she lives.
The analysis of artistic image and imagery allows not only to understand
the aesthetic aspects of art, but also to enter into a dialogue between the reader
or viewer and the work. Therefore, this topic is constantly being studied in the
disciplines of literature and art history. The purpose of the article is to conduct a
deeper analysis of the concepts of artistic image and imagery, to determine their

Results.
The Essence of Artistic Image.
Artistic image, especially in literature, is
one of the important components of works. Artistic image is not just a figurative
image or character, but an approach that reflects the essence of the work,
providing the reader or viewer with a deep psychological and aesthetic
experience. Through the image, the writer expresses his worldview, attitude to
life, social and spiritual values.
For example, in the stories of Anton Chekhov, artistic images reveal the
subtle layers of the human soul, its internal struggles and characteristics of
different social classes. The artistic images in the work "Four Quartets" (1898),
with their small, simple life images, raise big philosophical and spiritual
questions. Chekhov's images are often based on inner searches, memories and
unexpected encounters, which allows the reader to understand complex and
deep meanings.
Manifestations of Imagery.
Imagery is a concept that defines not only the
image in literature, but also the general principles of how it is formed, through
what images and symbols it is expressed. In imagery, a work does not mean a
specific image, but its pictorial expression, the stylistic aspects of the structure
of the work, and the interrelationships of symbols.
Artistic imagery is often further enriched through allegory, symbolism,
metaphor, and other poetic devices. Through this, the work conveys more
meaning, emotions, and thoughts to the reader. Thus, imagery is a broad concept
that includes every detail of artistic imagery and its overall purpose.
As an example, we can consider the main character of Rodion Raskolnikov
in Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel "Crime and Punishment" ("Prestuplenie i
nakazanie") - Rodion Raskolnikov. He appears, first of all, as an image that
represents the contradiction between individualism and society. Raskolnikov's
internal struggles and rebellion against social injustices constitute the main
aspects of his character. Through such an image, the writer explores moral,
religious and philosophical issues in society. Raskolnikov's reflection, his
internal experiences in the process of realizing his crime and expecting
punishment, serve to form imagery.
