The experiment examines how this test group reads and understands "Comics based on fairy tales for young children," explores the advantages of using literary texts in language learning, and demonstrates how such texts can more effectively facilitate the natural acquisition of second language skills. Additionally, the article tracks the improvement in reading technique dynamics as the respondents work through the 2nd-grade Russian language textbook to increase their reading speed. The research analyzes the lexical, syntactic, and pragmatic aspects of expressing gratitude and explores how they depend on contextual and cultural factors. Data were collected from everyday conversations and messages of 50 Spanish speakers from Spain (Madrid) and Mexico, using pragmatic and discourse analysis methods. The results indicate that although the word “Gracias” is universal, the intensity and form of gratitude vary depending on the level of formality, social distance, and regional differences. In Mexican Spanish, expressions enriched with personal pronouns (e.g., “Te agradezco”) are more commonly used, whereas in Peninsular Spanish, more neutral forms are preferred. These differences reflect the influence of cultural traditions and social norms. The study is based on Searle’s speech act theory and links the illocutionary force of gratitude with its contextual usage. The article highlights the adaptability of gratitude expressions in Spanish and emphasizes the importance of exploring other Spanish-speaking regions in future research. It argues that despite the emergence of literary sophistication, experimental narration, and thematic complexity in modern SF, the structural and narratological foundations of pulpstyle remain widely influential. The genre’s traditional features—such as linear narrative progression, speculative extrapolation, and dialogic exposition—are frequently retained, even in texts that appear to subvert genre norms. Through a comparative analysis of cyberpunk, the article demonstrates how the subgenre transforms but does not abandon the aesthetic logic of pulp, fusing New Wave literary reflexivity with Golden Age scientific rigor. It critiques the frequent conflation of science fiction with postmodernism, suggesting instead that science fiction is distinguished by its commitment to epistemological inquiry, ethical individualism, and narrative resolution, often contrasting sharply with postmodern fiction’s ontological ambiguity and open-endedness. The article further challenges the assumption that science fiction’s “juvenile” label undermines its seriousness, arguing that its didactic function, especially in adult readership, enhances its cognitive and ethical dimensions. It critiques the literary canon's exclusion of SF and calls for a genre-specific poetics grounded in science fiction’s unique formal mechanisms—including cognitive estrangement, world-building, and kinetic storytelling. Finally, the article invites rethinking critical terminology by developing a historical poetics rooted within the science fiction tradition itself rather than relying on imported frameworks from mainstream literary theory.
