Bakhtiyor Boboev, Rozi Choriev. It is an important and
necessary process to study this spiritual heritage, to
inculcate its essence into the minds of young people.
Nemat Koziboev, who entered the world of art in the
50s of the 20th century, was born on July 20, 1929 in
the city of Fergana. In 1944-47, he studied at the
Republican Institute of Art Education, and in 1947-53 at
the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture
named after I. Repin in Leningrad. Academicians - V.
Oreshnikov, A. Milnikov, Yu. Neprintsev were his
mentors. From the time he was studying at the higher
education institution, he began to actively participate
in exhibitions with his works and quickly demonstrated
his talent. It is worth noting that his gold medal-
winning diploma work entitled “Researchers” took a
worthy place in the exposition of the Museum of the
Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
THE MAIN FINDINGS AND RESULTS
During his studies in the country of knowledge, he met
the great artist Chingiz Akhmarov, became his student
and worked together on the decorative works of the
Navoi Theater, which led to a major turning point in the
artist’s life. He was fascinated by the colorful patterns
on the theater building while he was decorating the
composition for “Saddi Iskandary”. Beautiful patterns
created by masters, various forms were sometimes
used against the background of historical works
created by the artist.
Nemat Koziboev was first recognized as a graphic
artist. He skillfully creates works in different genres -
portrait, landscape, multi-figure composition. The
artist is recognized as a fine draughtsman, but he is
famous as a master of color, especially in the field of
landscape painting. The artist himself admitted that he
achieved naturalness and harmony only by being alone
with his beloved nature.
Nemat Koziboev was one of the artists who thought on
a broad scale, looked at the world and existence with
different eyes, and strived for vitality. Whether it is a
historical or a contemporary subject, he looked at
reality in its essence in terms of beauty, colors and
forms.
The artist made the existence amazingly poetic and
reflected them on the fabric. Nemat Koziboev’s works
are distinguished by the fact that they are similar to the
light-emitting lyrics, which seem to be the result of the
fusion of nature and the artist’s heart.
The landscape occupies a special place in the works of
N. Koziboev. The poetess in nature - awakening and
harmony in the form of lyricism, had a figurative
interpretation in her works, which allowed to create a
lyrical trend in the national landscape. The artist
skillfully painted the different moods of nature on the
fabric with watercolors, created a content that echoes
the sound of delicate emotions in the landscape genre.

After seeing Koziboev’s landscapes, the viewer soon
begins to miss his subtle colors. Not every artist can
give such charm and magic in his work.
During his many trips to Uzbekistan and abroad, he
passionately felt the unique beauty and charm of
nature, its harmony, calm and silence. The works made
by the artist during his first and second trip to Europe
differ sharply from each other. If the clarity of light and
shadows and the clarity of details prevails in his works
during his first journey, then in his later works a more
decorative tendency can be felt. If the artist expresses
the views of the valley, the views of the architectural
monuments with great excitement and admiration, the
images of the architectural buildings in the views of
Venice, Rome, Paris, London in the impressions of the
trip leave an impression like superficial sketches.
The artist, who was a student of the realistic school of
painting, created works adhering to the glorious
traditions of realism. The flow of development and the
most important problems of the visual art of
Uzbekistan in the second half of the XX century are
embedded in his work. The genre of portraiture has
defined the basis of the artist’s work for many years.
His best works in this
genre are People’s Artist,
“Portrait of Yunus Rajabi” (1954), as well as Eastern
sages and poets
–
“Alisher Navoi”, “Abu Rayhan
Beruni”, “Furqat”, “Nadirabegim”, “Abdullah Qadiri”,
“Amir Temur” portraits are among them. The distance
between these portraits is several decades. All of
them, their social type, emotional state of mind,
methods of approach to the image amaze a person
with their unique poetics and unusual possibilities of
deeper understanding of the human personality.
It is his great achievement that the artist has created a
world of colors that are unique and suitable for each
era. The artist is so interested in the historical subject -
the heritage of ancestors, their spiritual world, way of
life that the works created in this series are
masterpieces of Uzbek fine art.
One of his works is “Alisher Navoi and Husayn
Bayqara”. It depicts the poet and the king having a
poetic conversation on a beautiful porch. In the work,
we see the state of the poet, who read his new work to
his interlocutor with a new handwritten book in his
hand, and the king, who is ready to speak without
hiding his surprise. In the distance, snowy mountains,
lush gardens and meadows are reflected, the artist
draws the viewer’s gaze to their high spiritual world,
the lifestyle of the nobles of that time, the world of art.
Nemat Koziboev created with a deep sense of
responsibility for the Mother Earth and its true history.
Inspired by these high feelings, he determined his path
as an artist. Historical works such as “Awakening”, “In
front of Bibikhonim’s wall”, “Chinor
-
Sanjar” created in
the 60s are among the best genre and historical
paintings of Uzbekistan of the XX century.
Undoubtedly, Nemat Koziboev is a person who is

completely suitable for his time, and it is necessary to
evaluate his work taking into account that it has its
place. His famous paintings such as “Furqat”, “Abu Ali
ibn Sina”, “Portrait of the poet Ravnaq of the XVIII
century” are undoubtedly the peak of the artist’s
creativity.
The portrait of the artist “Yunus Rajabi” (1954) can be
called the most beautiful portrait of that time. In it, all
the psychological details that express the human
condition are skillfully worked out. Each line in them
has air, distance, plane dimension.
The artist’s work is importan
t because it expresses the
existence as much as possible. In his works, landscape,
genre composition, and portraiture take priority. The
artist’s series of paintings are located in museums,
galleries, and private collections in Uzbekistan and
foreign countries.
In 1953-57, he worked as a teacher at the P.Benkov
Republican Institute of Art Education in Tashkent, and
in 1957-2004, he worked as a professor at the National
Institute of Painting and Design named after
Kamoliddin Behzod.
In 1970, he was awarded
the title of “People’s artist of
Uzbekistan”, and in 1997, he was awarded the title of
Academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
And in 1998, he was awarded the Order of “El
-yurt
khurmati”.
The artist is a participant in a number of international
exhibitions. In particular, in 1977 in Moravany, Slovakia,
in 1998 in London and in 2000 in Germany, personal
exhibitions were organized.
In 2002, a personal exhibition entitled “The world
through the eyes of the artist” was presented to art
lovers in the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of
Arts of Uzbekistan in Tashkent..
The artist died on May 8, 2004 in Tashkent.
CONCLUSION
Nemat Koziboev was one of the great painters and
master painters who made a worthy contribution to
the golden treasure of the XX century art of
Uzbekistan. In his time, he rose to the peak of great
skill, opened new pages in our fine art, revealed new
aspects of the realistic school. Among his students,
many famous artists emerged.
